Fly Shop

Unfortunately, maintaining this site isn’t free. Instead of plastering aggravating ads all over the website, I think we can all agree that supporting the blog by purchasing custom-tied flies is a much better solution. All flies displayed on this page are tied by me, Spencer Belson. New patterns are being added regularly, but if you have a specific pattern in mind that isn’t listed, don’t be afraid to specifically ask for it in your order form and I’ll see if I can make it work.

To order flies, fill out the form below using the provided instructions. After you submit your order, I will likely reach out with any questions I have to best tailor your flies to the specific situations you’ll encounter when on the water. After your order has been finalized, I’ll send a Venmo request and your flies will soon follow.

Fly Order Form

Instructions for completing the form:

  1. Enter your name, email address, and preferred shipping address in the appropriate fields.
  2. In the Flies and Quantity field, type the fly pattern you’d like, the size of that pattern in parenthesis, an x followed by the quantity of that size, and a comma to separate it from the next pattern. If the pattern you’d like has multiple bead sizes, indicate the bead size you’d like by adding a space following the hook size in the parenthesis, then the bead size in millimeters. For example: Prince Nymph (10)x3 (12)x3, Tan Beadhead Caddis Larva (14)x2 (16)x2, Frenchie (14 3.2mm).
  3. In the Additional Notes field, enter anything else you’d like me to know about these flies. Examples include different colors, specific bead sizes/materials, variations of materials, etc.

FAQ’s

Who ties the flies?

All the flies sold by me are tied by myself, Spencer Belson. The flies are tied in northeastern Massachusetts.

What if I don’t know what flies to order?

If you’re looking to purchase some flies, but don’t know which ones to order, don’t fret! One of the best parts about ordering from me is that I have a wealth of local fishing experience, meaning I can help you select your flies based on the waters you’ll be fishing, the species you’ll be targeting, and the gear you’ll be using. Reach out through the Contact Page if you’d like some help selecting flies.

Do I have to stick to the exact patterns you have listed?

Not at all! Make these flies your own to perform the way you’d like them to in your home waters. In the Additional Notes field, enter any variations to the patterns I have listed that you’d like to make. Additionally, you can enter a pattern that I don’t have listed. Another option would be to order a custom fly, in which case we’d do some talking to determine exactly what you’re looking for.

What determines the price of the flies?

Unlike the mass-produced flies of certain large-scale companies, my flies utilize quality materials from a number of local sources. All my flies are tied using hooks from Gamakatsu and Saber, and my materials come from reputable sources like Hareline, Wapsi, Veevus, Collins Hackle, and UNI. Many of these materials are purchased through local fly shops, so when you support me, you are also supporting these local establishments. Obviously, the amount of materials, price of materials, and complexity of the fly all determine the relative price.

How much does shipping cost?

The cost of shipping is $6.00. This price is determined by the cost of the packaging of the flies, the envelopes they are shipped in, and the actual shipping rate.

How long will it take for me to get my flies?

Depending on the size and complexity of your order, the flies will take between a couple days and a few weeks to tie. Shipping will then take between a couple days and a week.

Is there a minimum number of flies I can order?

Unlike other shops, where flies only come in trios or have a minimum number, you can order as few or as many flies as you’d like from me.
